Rosemary Mint Shower Steamer
These shower steamers are easy to make and are a wonderful way to change up your shower experience. Printable recipe can be found under the 'Documents' tab.
Yield: 3 shower steamers.
INGREDIENTS:
- 8 oz Sodium Bicarbonate
- 4 oz Citric Acid
- 3 oz Cream of Tartar
- 2 oz Arrowroot Powder
- 1 oz Kaolin White Clay
- 1 tsp Peppermint Leaves
- 0.60 oz Peppermint Essential Oil
- 0.12 oz Rosemary Essential Oil
- Round Deep Dish Milky Way Soap Mold
- Witch Hazel for spritzing
REQUIRED TOOLS:
- Medium Sized Bowl
- Teaspoons
- Chemical Resistant Gloves
DIRECTIONS:
1. Measure out all dry ingredients except for the peppermint leaves (as this is decoration), into a medium sized bowl. Mix and ensure that there are no large clumps.
2. Slowly add the fragrance and mix by hand. Use a spritz of witch hazel or water as needed until the mixture clumps and holds when you squeeze it in your hand.
3. Add a pinch of peppermint leaves (1/3 of the total amount) to the center of each round in mold.
4. Add the mixture into the cavities of the mold. Evenly pack them as tightly as possible, making sure that none of the mixture is loose.
5. Leave to harden for at least 12 - 24 hours in the mold.
6. To unmold, it is best to flip it over onto a tray (keeping the tray pressed to the mold as it is turned over) to prevent cracking or breaking. It should come out on its own.
NOTES:
- To use, place the steamer at the back of the shower so that it is not directly under the spray of the shower head.
- It is recommended to have a drain catcher installed in your shower while using any product that has loose botanicals, to prevent potential clogging.
- Do not use as a bath bomb.
