Exfoliating Coffee Soap
This is any easy to make melt and pour soap that gives you an excuse to have another cup of coffee before you get started. It provides a nice exfoliation while you wash. A great 2-in-1! Printable recipe can be found under the 'Documents' tab.
Yield: (8) 4 oz bars of soap
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 lb (tray) Detergent Free - Three Butter Melt & Pour Soap Base
- 20 ml Coffee Beans Fragrance Oil
- 10 ml Vanilla Stabilizer (M&P)
- (1) 101 Silicone Soap Loaf Mold
- 1 tsp Coffee Grounds
REQUIRED TOOLS:
- Microwave
- Medium Sized Microwave Safe Bowl
- Small Measuring Cup
- Measuring spoon
- Scale
- Spatula
- Cutter (Straight)
- lsopropyl Alcohol Spray
DIRECTIONS:
1. Cut up 2 lb of the Detergent Free - Three Butter Melt & Pour Soap Base into small chunks and add it to a medium sized, microwave safe bowl.
2. Heat the soap in microwave for 30 second intervals, mixing at each interval. Heat only until fully melted.
3. While soap melts, mix together the Coffee Beans Fragrance Oil and the Vanilla Stabilizer (M&P) in a separate container. Allow fragrance oil/stabilizer to sit for 2 minutes.
4. Add fragrance oil/stabilizer blend to soap and stir.
5. When the soap is right around 100°F, add the coffee grounds and stir. This lower temp will help suspend the coffee grounds throughout the soap.
6. Spray the top with isopropyl alcohol to pop any surface bubbles.
7. Leave to cool and harden before removing from mold (24 hours)
8. Cut the soap into 8 even slices. Package and label as desired. Enjoy!
NOTES:
For the coffee grounds: Make a cup of coffee before making the soap and just use the leftover damp grounds.
The soap will generally be ready to suspend the coffee grounds when it is thicker and starting to gain a gelatinous feel to it.
