This lye works well in our soaps. We have no complaints with regard to the quality, at all. However, we've only ever used lye in crystal form before (ie. it looks like table salt) and this lye comes in beads. The little beads seem to get a bit of static cling and fly around more than is perhaps ideal, considering lye can be caustic, so it took some getting used to. But since this lye is priced better than most other types/companies we've found, we've happily adapted to it, and plan to keep ordering this type. Besides, Candora's service is really great, and we like supporting Canadian businesses, so that's a bonus. :)
I buy the largest bags of lye. I empty them right away into large buckets with a tight sealing lid. I haven't had any issues with the lye being contaminated or not at peak standard. The bags have quite a secure inner lining plastic bag to preserve its integrity and freshness. If you do a lot of soapmaking, it's more cost effective to buy in bulk!
